Bishop Amat Has a Fields Day

LA PUENTE — It takes a while to get through the line describing Scott Fields’ performance in Bishop Amat’s 49-13 victory over Servite High School in Angelus League play Friday night.
That line: Four touchdowns, 129 yards in nine rushes and two fumble recoveries--one for a touchdown and one that started a drive that led to a touchdown--by Fields.
Fields, a running back and defensive end, scored the long way, with a 72-yard third-quarter
Bishop Amat led, 28-6, at halftime, then scored on all three third-quarter possessions, the longest lasting 3 minutes 3 seconds. The Lancers cleared the bench at the start of the fourth quarter.
Servite (2-6, 0-2) has lost five in a row, including this one in front of a Bishop Amat homecoming crowd of 1,200.
Bishop Amat quarterback Zach Zertuche passed for 158 yards and two touchdowns, completing 14 of 20 to five different receivers. Jason Patterson chipped in with 82 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
Michael Hill led Servite’s offense with two catches for 108 yards and a touchdown.
