The luxury Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows on the Big Island reopened this weekend after a 10-week closure for renovation. Rates through Oct. 31 start at $275.43, including taxes. Reservations: (800) 327-8585. . . . About 1.2 million tourists from Europe, Canada and elsewhere are expected to visit Cuba this year--21% more than in 1996--Cuban officials said. Washington discourages U.S. citizens from traveling there.
