At Your Beck and Call

Ever wonder what life would be like with your own concierge? Someone to fetch your dry cleaning, bring you dinner, and get you great seats at the opera or the Rose Bowl?
About 300 residents of Baldwin Hills, View Park and Ladera Heights are finding out, thanks to their newest neighbor, a home-grown business called My Concierge. Since opening about a year ago with restaurant delivery, the company has expanded to provide auto detailing, car service and an on-call personal assistant.
Until now, say company founders Antonio D. LeMons and Keith D. Clinkscales, residents of the area--though affluent--have not enjoyed the same service perks as wealthy Westside residents. “Most of My Concierge’s clients,” says LeMons, “are black professionals--artists, writers, entertainers, entrepreneurs--who love where they live and have a strong sense of community. They have one other thing in common: They are very, very busy.”
The cost of a personal concierge ranges from $4.50 for a pickup and delivery to $17 to $20 an hour for a personal assistant, with a two-hour minimum (gratuities not included).
