Premier Laser Systems Inc.’s shares rose 27%, or 69 cents, to $3.25 Wednesday after the Irvine maker of medical and dental lasers said it received a U.S. patent covering a multicamera corneal-analysis system, used to measure and map the cornea.
The company said the patented technology provides information that is useful as a prelude to eye surgery and to optometrists in fitting contact lenses.
Premier said it has an additional U.S. patent pending on the technology and has filed foreign applications as well.
