From Times Wire Reports
A Bakersfield teenager was killed by a train late Tuesday when she stopped to help a friend who had tripped on the tracks, sheriff’s officials said.
Brittany Louise Juilfs, 15, and five friends were trying to beat the train when one of the teenagers fell, according to the Kern County coroner’s office. She was in the eastern Kern County city of Boron for a cousin’s birthday.
Her family said Juilfs, a student at Foothill High School, always tried to help a friend.
