Violence in south claims four lives

A worker at a southern Thailand rubber plantation was shot dead and three members of a family were killed by suspected insurgents just hours after interim Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont made a lightning visit to the violence-plagued area.
Surayud, installed as prime minister by the military after it overthrew an elected government last month, has made ending the violence in Thailand’s Muslim-dominated southernmost provinces a priority.
