Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Malibu; felt in Valley, Ventura

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Thursday morning eight miles from Malibu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:08 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles.
[Updated at 10:33 a.m. PDT April 3: There were no immediate reports of damage from the small quake.
According to the USGS, the motion from the quake moved north into the west San Fernando Valley and Ventura County.

The earthquake occurred near the coast between Leo Carrillo and Point Mugu state parks.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was nine miles from Thousand Oaks, 11 miles from Agoura Hills and 11 miles from Camarillo.
In the past 10 days, there have been 10 earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
