A Florida man shot his three children and turned the gun on himself Friday morning after a domestic dispute with his wife, authorities say.
The father and two of the children, a boy and a girl, are now dead, and their sister remains in critical condition.
David Mohney, 52, was arguing with his wife, Cynthia, in their home in Port Orange, Fla., just after 5 a.m., when she ran to a neighbor’s house looking for help, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department. She told the neighbor that her husband had threatened her with a gun.
Soon after, gunshots were heard, and when deputies got to the house they found that Mohney, his son, and two daughters had been shot.
The couple’s 11-year-old son, also named David, was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said. The father and his 14-year-old daughter, Savanna, were pronounced dead at a local hospital. Lauren Mohney, 9, was taken to another local hospital, where she is in critical condition, law enforcement officials said.
Port Orange is a coastal community about six miles south of Daytona Beach, Fla.
