Letters: Wayward Sheriff Joe

Re “Federal officials sue Arizona lawman,” May 11
I can only hope that this lawsuit is the beginning of the end of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The man has no business in law enforcement.
He has demonstrated time and again his bias against nonwhites. Under his questionable leadership the sheriff’s department has engaged in numerous instances of racial profiling, according to theU.S. Department of Justice. He has gone on record to align himself with the “birther” movement, whose members cannot accept the fact that a black man is in the White House. There is simply no other logical explanation for their position, no matter how much they deny it.
Arpaio is a menace and should be removed from office as soon as possible. He has become a national embarrassment.

I hope that Arpaio will counter-sue the federal government for not policing our borders against the tremendous influx of illegal immigrants that is slowly but surely bringing our country to economic ruin by balkanizing our society into multiple factions.
