USC football: Silas Redd goes from zero to 140 yards

USC tailback Silas Redd gained zero yards in 10 carries last week against Utah.

So the senior felt much better on Friday night after rushing for 140 yards in 22 carries during the Trojans’ 31-14 victory over Oregon State at Reser Stadium.

Redd sat out much of the season while trying to come back from knee surgery.

He carried the Trojans in the fourth quarter in a victory over Arizona on Oct. 10 and ran for 112 yards in a loss at Notre Dame before he was stifled by Utah.

Third-year sophomore Javorius Allen rushed for 133 yards and scored three touchdowns against Oregon State, but Redd also was instrumental in wearing down the Beavers.

It was the first time that two USC backs rushed for more than 100 yards in a game since Redd and Curtis McNeal did it in last season’s 27-9 victory over California.
